USA at 250

I am pleased to announce that I will have two pieces in Del Ray Artisan’s USA at 250 art exhibit. The exhibit is a celebration of the country’s 250th birthday that focuses on where we have been, where we are, and where we are going. The exhibit’s challenge was to capture the spirit of our nation, its past, present, or future. This exhibit includes artworks that focus on the positive, highlighting the splendor of our landscapes, people, history, creativity, resilience or other aspects that shape the American experience.

Both of my pieces are types of mosaics. The United States is a mosaic of people, cultures, religions, heritages, opinions, and more. I think that is part of what makes this country great, and I made pieces to celebrate that. For my wall hanging piece, I used a variety of material including many recycled objects, so while it is fiber based, it is a mosaic. My quilt piece is not a true patchwork quilt, but I portrayed the flag as a patchwork of a variety of fabrics in the colors of the flag.

Both pieces can be seen from June 5–28, 2026 at Del Ray Artisans gallery in the Colasanto Center, 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue, Alexandria, Virginia 22301. Gallery hours are Thursday 12-6pm, Friday 12-9pm, Saturday 12-6pm, and Sunday 12-6pm (hours differ in July). The gallery is free, open to the public, and accessible.
